Figment

2026  | OIL ON LINEN   |  150 x 100 cm

Figment by Yuliya Vladkovska, showing whole and cut Italian figs among alphabet beads, coloured beads and striped bead forms on a pale background.

Figment is a 2026 oil painting on linen by Yuliya Vladkovska depicting whole and cut Italian figs among alphabet beads, coloured beads and small decorative bead forms across a pale, open field.

Whole and opened figs appear among scattered letters and beads, bringing a distinctly bodily register into an otherwise quiet composition.

The cut fruit exposes flesh, seeds and interior structure, while the intact figs retain their smooth, closed surfaces. Around them, alphabet beads and small coloured forms introduce associations with language, adornment, play and personal memory.

The body itself is absent, yet remains implied through what can be held, tasted, touched, worn or desired.

The painting stays suspended between immediacy and recollection. Ripeness suggests fullness, appetite and sensuality, but also duration: a moment already moving toward change.

The scattered objects do not resolve into a fixed narrative, allowing intimacy, seasonality and memory to remain open.
